Contact Lenses

As we leave our winter hibernation and spring is around the corner we find ourselves more outdoors especially on Sydney’s gorgeous northern beaches. Whether you like to walk, run, swim, surf, paddle or simply enjoy the outdoors, spectacles can become cumbersome particularly when very active. Contact lenses can be worn whether at work, play and all day, everyday. Contact lenses have come along way since I graduated from Optometry school 20 years ago. There are so many options for soft disposable contact lenses that can fit almost everyone and provide excellent vision correction.

There are options such as one day, fortnightly or monthly soft disposable lenses. Contact lenses can correct vision if you are short-sighted, long-sighted, have astigmatism or need a reading correction. There are multifocal contact lenses in both one day and monthly disposable options to give you both distance and near vision correction. Lens materials have advanced to provide ultimate comfort and high oxygen transmission to allow the eyes to “breathe” all day and some can be worn overnight.

I have always enjoyed fitting contact lenses, especially with someone for the first time as they are amazed at the crispness of vision without having their spectacles on. Many fear placing a contact lens on their eyes for the first time however it soon becomes apparent the lenses are very comfortable and they soon forget that there is a lens on their eye.

If you are keen to try contact lenses or simply find your current lenses uncomfortable and vision is poor, make an appointment and I am more then happy to assess and discuss your options to provide comfortable and clear vision with contact lenses.
